To be explicitly, the interest depends on the shirking of the component of Riba which is generally and on a very basic level rehearsed in the regular financial industry. The endeavor by the Islamic banking and money industry had so far been fruitful and it could be seen by the starting of wide scope of Shariah agreeable monetary items and transaction. However, none of us can ensure that the Shariah consistent items affirmed are without shortcoming completely. Among the acts of the business, the act of Bay al-Inah or the act of offer and repurchase, Tawarruq which normally utilized in Malaysia, have been condemned firmly particularly the voices from the Middle East. The other issue that will be talked about quickly in this task paper is the pertinence of Waââ¬â¢d , the one-sided guarantee. SHARIAH ISSUE ONE: Bay al-Inah THE CONCEPTLinguistically, the term ââ¬Å"Inahâ⬠con veys the significance of salaf, or getting a credit. It is utilized in this importance to allude to buying on layaway. It could likewise be a subsidiary of the term ââ¬Å"aynâ⬠, which additionally implies present resources, that is money. In this manner, it means a circumstance whereby one buys an advantage for its resulting deal on money that is required by him. Cove al-Inah is commonly characterized as a plan whereby a merchant offers to the purchaser some article for money conceded installment; at that point, at the same time, the vender mmediately repurchases a similar item for a lesser sum than the conceded cost in real money. In this way, the exchange adds up to a credit whereby the contrast between the two costs speaks to the intrigue . Usual methodology: The above chart shows the usual way of doing things of the Bay al-Inah that has been rehearsed by the Islamic banks in Malaysia up until this point. In this exchange, the bank offers its resource for the client who nee ds liquidity on layaway. The cost under the deal incorporates the bankââ¬â¢s overall revenue charged on the customer.Subsequently, the bank repurchases the advantage from the client for money installment. In the end, the client gets the money installment, and address the bank the conceded cost over a residency by intermittent portions which establishes a similar impact and aftereffect of a credit . CURRENT PRACTICE IN THE INDUSTRY In Malaysia, the act of Inah may take 2 names, contingent upon the first proprietor of the advantage. In the event that the advantage for be utilized has a place with the client, the agreement is known as Bay Bithaman Ajil (BBA). On the off chance that the advantage has a place with the bank, at that point the agreement will be named as Bay al-Inah. ven however the authoritative records may vary from one financing to the another, yet the basic documentation will comprise of Property Purchase Agreement (PPA) and Property Sale Agreement (PSA). In addition , the Master Facility Agreement will likewise be set up to typify and detail out every single vital element of the office conceded. These reports uncovers that however the two deal contracts are executed independently without making one of them contingent to the next, the ace office Agreement has obviously demonstrated the goal of the gatherings in going into these two successive deal contracts.LEGITIMACY OF BAY AL-INAH The primary defenders of Bay al-Inah is the Shafii school. The Shafii law specialists have outline their reasonability in a circumstance whereby an individual sells a ware on money or credit terms and hands over belonging, and the gatherings separate with common joy about the agreement, it is passable for him to buy it from the past purchaser for a sum equivalent to, higher, or lower than the previous cost, of a similar money as in the past or extraordinary, paying money or oncredit, in the wake of getting installment for the past deal or before it.On this premise, a s indicated by the definitive position maintained by the Shafii researchers, the two free agreements, together referres to as ââ¬Å"Inahâ⬠are held legitimate, however inexcusable. This rule even applied when one of the two gatherings is known for the act of Inah, as indicated by the standard maintained by the Shafii school, the aim of the gatherings, in any event, when it happens to be unsatisfactory, doesn't bring about the weakness of the agreement, except if such expectation is given articulation in the authoritative text.As an outcome, it will be the situation whereby even the circumstance shows the partiesââ¬â¢ goal to complete a subsequent deal, this won't require the shortcoming of the agreement. In a basic word, the Shafii school considered the expectation of the gatherings possibly considered when the invalid aim is expressly written in the agreement . In the opposite side, the Maliki and Hanbali schools opined that the agreement of Bay al-Inah isn't valid. The Mal iki legal scholars have ordered the procedure being referred to under buyuââ¬â¢ al-ajal, which worries on the conversation of different type of two deal contract being occurring in arrangement including blend of various costs and periods. They have portrayed 9 potential varieties, the admissibility of two of which have been subjects of various conclusions, while there is unanimity relating to the rest. It was said that when one sells a product on a conceded installment and from that point buys it once more, the cost in the subsequent exchange could be conceded for a period equivalent to the principal, shorter than the first, or longer. In every one of these circumstances, the cost of the subsequent exchange could be equivalent to that of the main, lower than, or higher. The sorts where legal advisers have varied are: - where the cost of the subsequent exchange is lower than that of the first, and is on a money premise; and - where the cost of the subsequent exchange is higher than that of the first and is conceded for a more drawn out period. Imam Maliki and different legal advisers respect these configurations invalid. They considered the second exchange alongside the first, and respect the grounds suitable enough to speculate that the reason for existing is to trade a measure of cash with a higher sum that is conceded, which considerably comprises the denied Riba. Henceforth, the exchange goes about as a mode for achieving what is disallowed and it is invalid naturally. The Hanbali school concurred that the Bay al-Inah isn't substantial as the distinction of the selling cost of a ware with net revenue and the lesser purchasing value exchange fill in as a road prompting Riba. One could look to legitimize the offer of one thousand against one thousand 500 by including an advantage as such. In any case, it was likewise referenced that if the cost of the subsequent exchange is equivalent to that or higher than the main exchange, at that point it is passable sinc e no edge equivalent to the idea of Riba is included. The above decision applies where the ware had not lessened in any way after its deal. On the off chance that it had reduced, it could be bought at any cost, as any diminishing in the cost could be against the loss of significant worth in the advantage, and not with the end goal of Riba.If the buy is against another benefit, or the primary deal was against a benefit and the item is then repurchased for money, it is reasonable because of the way that Riba isn't material among cash and products. In the event that the primary deal is on money, and the subsequent deal happens through another cash, it is admissible. Fundamentally, the assurance of legitimacy in contract depends on the partiesââ¬â¢ rationale and legitimacy in deal viable, the intention of the gatherings is illicit will put the deal invalid aas it comprises a lawful gadget to get a credit with intrigue which ought to be averted.Imam Hanifah from the Hanafi school opin ed that if the two costs are to such an extent that Riba could be material, for example, gold and silver, and are indistinguishable in type, for instance: gold, it isn't permitted to repurchase the sold ware aside from at a cost equivalent to the first, with no expansion or decline in cost. On the off chance that the cost of the principal deal was with the end goal that Riba isn't appropriate, for example, wares, he may repur

How The Germans Influenced Modern Day Slavery Essay
Bruce R. Kokubun Mr. Black 7th Grade World Studies P.2 16 November 2016 How The Germans Influenced Modern Day Slavery Today I will be talking about how Germany influenced slavery, war, peoplesââ¬â¢ perspective on immigrants, and many more things and how it affected modern day life. I think Germany greatly affected today partly because of Hitler. I think he greatly influenced the world because of his personality. I also think that the German army was very strong making them feared, powerful, and united. I also think that Germany still has lots of power and is still feared today as a torture and powerful country. I think that many people today and maybe even countries think that Germany is a bad country. If you are one of those people, I hope today I can change your mind because Germany is a very intelligent and cool country because without them, our world would be greatly changed. I think Germans influence on slavery and many more things greatly changed peopleââ¬â¢s perspective on immigrantââ¬â¢s and ideas. Germanys background is very unique and very engrossing. With Germany being the third largest country in the European Union, following the Boot, France and finally Spain, Germany has a lot of power. (Countries of the World) Germany also had a history of being divided, which means they are not very united but can make strong comebacks. A little after A.D. 436, Germany was divided and ruled by tribal leaders. Because of this, some of the tribes called themselves holy. Auschwitz (1015 words) Essay AuschwitzAuschwitzHow could all this have happened? Thisis one of the many questions associated with the Holocaust. The Third Reichof no doubt on of the worlds largest and most feared empires. It couldhave easily overthrown the Roman Empire and was the most worthy adversaryof the British Empire. The most overwhelming and terrifying aspect of theSecond World War has got to be the ghettos, concentration camps and ofcourse the death camps. The camp that stands out in everybodys mind hasgot to be Auschwitz. Out of the 6.8 million killed there were 6000 killedat Auschwitz a day. What some people may not know is that Auschwitz wasactually three camps fused into one. The most potent and efficient wayof mass murder was the gas chamber. That is if you lasted the trip there. But the most insulting part of the whole ordeal to the Jewish was beingburned in one of the many Crematoriums. The Nazis established Auschwitz in April1940 under the direction of Heinrich Himmler, chief of two Nazi organizations-theNazi guards known as the Schutzstaffel (SS), and the secret police knownas the Gestapo. The camp at Auschwitz originally housed political prisonersfrom occupied Poland and from concentration camps within Germany. Constructionof nearby Birkenau (Brzenzinka), also known as Auschwitz II, began in October1941 and included a womens section after August 1942. Birkenau had fourgas chambers, designed to resemble showers, and four crematoria, used toincinerate bodies. Approximately 40 more satellite campswere established around Auschwitz. These were forced labor camps and wereknown collectively as Auschwitz III. The first one was built at Monowitzand held Poles who had been forcibly evacuated from their hometowns bythe Nazis. Prisoners were transported from all over Nazi-occupied Europeby rail, arriving at Auschwitz in daily convoys. Arrivals at the complexwere separated into three groups. One group went to the gas chambers withina few hours; these people were sent to the Birkenau camp, where more than20,000 people could be gassed and cremated each day. At Birkenau, the Nazisused a cyanide gas called Zyklon-B, which was manufactured by a pest-controlcompany. A second group of prisoners were used as slave labor at industrialfactories for such companies as I. G. Farben and Krupp.Camp CommandantRudolf Hoess admitted to a minimum figure of 2.5 million deaths at Auschwitz. Reflecting back some years later on the experiments in the basement ofBlock 11 and later in Gas Chamber and Crematorium 1, Hoess said: At the time I did not think aboutthe problem of killing Soviet prisoners of war. It was an order and I hadto execute it. However, I will say frankly that killing that group of peopleby gas relieved my anxieties. It would soon be necessary to start the massextermination of the Jews, and until that moment neither I Eichmann hadknown how to conduct a mass killing. A sort of gas was to be used, butit was not known what kind of gas was meant and how to use it. Now we hadboth the gas and the way of using it. I had always been concerned at thethought of mass shootings, particularly of women and children. I was alreadysick of executions. Now my mind was at ease. Some prisoners survived through the helpof German industrialist Oskar Schindler, who saved about 1000 Polish Jewsby diverting them from Auschwitz to work for him, first in his factorynear Krakow and la ter at a factory in what is now the Czech Republic. Athird group, mostly twins and dwarfs, underwent medical experiments atthe hands of doctors such as Josef Mengele, who was also known as the Angelof Death. The camp was staffed partly by prisoners, some of whom wereselected to be kapos (orderlies) and sonderkommandos (workers at the crematoria). .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 , .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .postImageUrl , .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 , .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:hover , .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:visited , .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:active { border:0!important; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:active , .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89 .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue0fcab27f0a4657d068ecc1e3f2d7b89:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Soviet German War EssayMembers of these groups were killed periodically. The kapos and sonderkommandoswere supervised by members of the SS; altogether 6000 SS members workedat Auschwitz. By 1943 resistance organizations had developed in the camp. These organizations helped a few prisoners escape; these escapees tookwith them news of exterminations, such as the killing of hundreds of thousandsof Jews transported from Hungary between May and July 1944. In October1944 a group of sonderkommandos destroyed one of the gas chambers at Birkenau. They and their accomplices, a group of women from the Monowitz labor camp, were all put to death. When the Soviet army marched into Auschwitz to liberatethe camp on January 27, 1945, they found about 7600 survivors abandonedthere. More than 58,000 prisoners had already been evacuated by the Nazisand sent on a final death march to Germany. In 1946 Poland founded a museumat the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp in remembrance of its victims. By 1994, about 22 million visitors-700,000 annually-had passed throughthe iron gates that bear the cynical motto Arbeit macht frei (work makesone free). German war interests required the maximizationof economic benefits from this cold-blooded murder. Beforethe bodies were burned the victims hair was cut off and fillings and falseteeth made of precious metals were removed. The hair was used for makinghaircloth, and the metals were melted into bars and sent to Berlin. Afterthe liberation tons of hair were found in camp warehouses; the Nazis hadnot had time to process it all. Proof that this hair came from victimsof gassing was provided by The Krakow Institute of Judicial Expertise, whose analyses showed that traces of prussic acid, a poisonous componenttypical of Zyklon compounds, were present in the hair. The following table compares the major elements in the income statement and demonstrates the percentage change: Particulars Values are in '000 2013 2014 % change Total Operating Revenues $ 1,323,481.00 $ 1,513,662.00 14.370% Cost of Goods Sold $ 944,229.00 $ 1,064,892.00 12.779% Total Expenditure before tax $ 1,247,380.00 $ 1,198,834.00 -3.892% Earnings per common share $ 0.1339 $ 0.1993 48.842% From the above table, it is evident that the operating revenue of Harvey Norman has increased by 14.37% in 2014 in comparison to the previous financial year (Harveynormanholdings.com.au, 2015). It is a positive implication for the financial performance of the company. This value indicates the company has been able to enhance its sales and customer base has enhanced. Additionally, the cost of goods sold has increased by 12.779%. As the sales volume has increased, it is obvious that the cost of goods sold will increase (Hansen and Mowen, 2000). However, it must be noted that the proportion of increase in sales or revenue differs from the increase in the cost of goods sold. The rise in cost of goods sold is lower in comparison to the rise in revenue (Freedman and Jaggi, 2000). It implies that Harvey Norman has been able to work efficiently to control its cost of production. From the above table, it can be found that total expenditure excluding tax has declined by 3.892% from the previou s financial year. It significantly implies that Harvey Norman has been able to achieve higher level of operational efficiency in 2014 in comparison to 2013. Hence, it can be stated that the operational performance of the company has improved leading to enhance the financial performance. Earnings per share are an important indicator for the investors. It has been observed that the earning per share has improved which indicate the company is performing well enough. Additionally, this positive indication will help in attracting more investment for the company. Cash Flow Statement Analysis Cash flow statement helps in depicting the cash position of the company. It includes the list of cash transaction for different activities such as investment activities, operational activities and financing activities. Cash flow statement is essential for fundamental analysis as it depicts how much actual cash has been generated by the company. Additionally, the cash flow statement analysis helps in understanding the potential of the company to pay for its operational activities and growth in future. This section will focus on analyzing the cash flow statement of Harvey Norman and the major elements will be compared in context of previous years performance. The following table demonstrates the important elements of cash flow statement for Harvey Norman for the last two years (Hirsch, 2000). Particulars Values are in '000 2013 2014 % change Net cash Flow from operating activities $ 239,217.00 $ 338,935.00 42% Net cash Flow from investing activities $ (208,181.00) $ (113,117.00) -46% Net cash Flow from financing activities $ (46,562.00) $ (235,213.00) 405% Net cash or cash equivalent at the end of the year $ 124,567.00 $ 115,172.00 -8% From the above table, it has been found that the net cash flow from operating activities of Harvey Norman has enhanced by 42% (Harveynormanholdings.com.au, 2015). It clearly indicates that the company has been undertaking its operational activities efficiently and it has been able to generate he positive cash flow from the operations. Hence, it can be stated that it has a positive implication for the company. Cash flow from investing activities record the activities associated with investments (Pavlovic and Bogdanovic, 2013). It has been found that the cash outflow regarding purchase of new equipments, plant etc was higher in 2013. Additionally, payments made for purchasing investment property for the company was higher in the previous financial year (Harveynormanholdings.com.au, 2015). Hence, it has been found that the cash outflow for investing activities was greater (Freedman and Jaggi, 2000). On the other hand, cash inflow due to sale of plant, equipments and some properties is g reater in 2014 in comparison to the previous year 2013. Thus the net cash out flow from operating activities has declined in the latest financial year (Hirsch, 2000). Cash flow associated with the financing activities majorly associated with activities of financing such as borrowing, loans, repayment of loans, interest paid etc. It has been found that the cash outflow associated with the financing activities of Harvey Norman has significantly enhanced in the 2014 in comparison to 2013(Hansen and Mowen, 2000). From the financial statement, it has been found that the company has to pay greater amount of dividend and had to repay higher amount in the latest financial year. Hence, the net cash outflow from financing activities has extensively increased. The net cash balance shown in the cash flow statement of a company indicates that the amount of cash or cash equivalent available to the company at the end of the financial year. In case of Harvey Norman, it has been found that the net c ash balance of the company in 2014 has declined by 8% from the previous year (Piao and Ni, 2011). Though the cash inflow from operating activities has significantly increased, cash outflow is significantly high due to the investing activities as well as financing activities. Hence, a decline in the net cash balance is observed in case of Harvey Norman in the year of 2014. Stockholders Equity The stockholders equity is indicated in the balance sheet of a company. in case of Harvey Norman, it has been found that the equity of stockholders has increased by 5.38% in 2014 in comparison to the previous year. It has a positive implication for the company however, it must be noted that higher value of stockholders equity indicates greater dilution of the ownership (Riahi-Belkaoui, 2001). Conclusion This paper has efficiently scrutinized the financial statement a public company, Harvey Norman which is listed on Australian Stock Exchange. It has been found that the company has achieved greater operational efficiency in 2014. The balance sheet analysis of the company indicates that the current asset as well as no current asset of the company has increased. On the other hand, short term and long term liabilities of the company has declined. It indicates that the company has not been permitted greater credit period and paying off its liabilities. Analyzing the income statement of the Harvey Norman, it has been found that the revenue of the company has enhanced which has a positive implication for the company. Additionally, expenditures regarding operational activities have declined which implies that the company has been able to achieve operational excellence. The cash flow statement of the company has implied that the net cash balance of the declined by 8%. The major reason behind the decrease in net cash balance is the high cash outflow due to financing activities and investment activities. Part B: Case Study 1. The organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015, has decided to offer premium tickets of the Melbourne Tennis open along with the autograph of the popular tennis players which can be chosen by the customers. There are only 3,000 premium tickets to offer the customer. It has been decided that the retail price of the tickets will be $ 300 and the price of the tickets will be $ 280 for the tennis club members. These are the two alternatives available to the organizers of Melbourne Tennis open to recognize the revenue. I would recommend that the organizers must choose the retail price for selling the premium tickets as the revenue will be higher in this case. 2. Now, it is stated that the organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015 are deciding to keep an option for returning the ticket if the customers are not happy with it. The customers will be able to return the ticket within one month from the date of purchase. In this situation, selection of the retail price will not be suitable for recognizing revenue. If the customers return the ticket there will be greater loss. Hence, choosing the mixture of two options will be suitable for the organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015. For the tennis club members the ticket will be sold at $ 280 and for other price will be 300 dollars (Hirsch, 2000). 3. It has been assumed that a selling agent has been chosen and the organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015 have entered into a contract with the agent. According to this contract, the selling agent will be responsible for taking care of all the marketing and selling activities. The selling agent will get commission at 10% of the sales. There will not be any policy for returning or exchanging. In this case, the organizers will recognize revenue at the time of sales and after paying the 10% of the price of ticket which is given to the sales agent as commission. 4. Accounting profession has the skill in order to provide a service for authenticating. Authenticating, authorization and accounting is the service provided by various organizations such as CISCO. Thus, the autographs of the popular tennis players given with the premium tickets can be authenticated with the aid of this service(Cisco, 2015). 5. Cost of goods sold helps in estimation of the cost of manufacturing the good or direct cost. Direct cost includes direct cost of material, direct labor and direct overhead. It has been observed that in case of manufacturing the cost of goods sold can be easily determined. However, in case of service, the direct cost is difficult to calculate. The reason is direct material, direct labor etc are not available in case of service. So, the component, cost of goods sold cannot be used in this case (Hansen and Mowen, 2000). 6. It has been assumed that the organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015 have decided to pay a fixed fee to the tennis players whose signature will be put on the premium tickets. Now, it the question is when the organizers have to pay for it. At the time of agreement or at the time of getting the autographs, the organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015 need to pay the fixed amount to each of the tennis players nominated for putting signatures on the premium ticket (Hirsch, 2000). 7. It has been stated that the organizers of Melbourne Tennis Open 2015 has decided to give 5% commission on the revenue to the tennis players who are giving their autographs on the premium tickets. The commission will be dependent on the value of sales for the tickets signed by each popular tennis player. Hence, it is clear that the expenditure regarding the commission paid to the tennis players will be realized at the end of the selling of tickets (Drury, 2004). The Great Gatsby Essays (799 words) - The Great Gatsby,
The Great Gatsby In today society, many people like to follow the current. They want to catch the wave. Which mean, it does not matter if things were good or bad, right or wrong, they just follow and do them without any thinking. Therefore, there are not too many people would like to be a normal, thoughtful nor neutral person. However, in the novel, The Great Gatsby, by Scott Fitzgerald, one of the character name is Nike Carroway, he was the good and neutral narrator. It was because, in the novel, he analyzed all of the things with regard to accuracy of observation. In The Great Gatsby, when Mr.Gatsby told Vick he wanted to return the past over again with his lover- Daisy, Nike Carroway warned him to give it up, because it was impossible. Unforturately, Mr.Gatsby was not believe it. So at the end, Mr.Gatsby's dream still had not came true because Daisy did not break up with Tom and go with him. It can be seen in the last chapter on the novel, when Gatsby was murder, Daisy wen t to somewhere else with her husband, and did not go to Gatsby's funeray. I called up Daisy half and hour after we found him, called her instinctively and without hersitation. But she and Tom had gone away early that afternoon, and taken baggage with them. Therefore, Nike Carroway's analysis was right by these clear observation. However, Nike Carroway is a good narrator, he sees everything happen and does not trust everybody easily. So during the people discuss about something at a time, he does not believe it is true. After he proves it, he will accept the truth. Moreover, when Nike went to Gatsby's party, there is a drunk lady telling everyone Gatsby killed a man before. Somebody told me they thought he killed a man once. Also, there is one more lady said that Gatsby was a German spy: It is more that he was a German spy during the war. Nike heard it, but when Nike had a chance to have a lunch with Gats by, he told Nike, he was an Oxford man and show him that fought in World War One. Then Nike knew Gatsby was not a German Spy nor a murderer. Furthermore, at the end of the novel, when Daisy drove Gatsby's car and killed Mrs.Wilson in a car accident, Nike's first though Gatsby killed Mrs.Wilson. But after Gatsby told him all of the things at that moment, then Nike was thinking and discuss between Gatsby and Tom's speaking, and make his own conclusion. Therefore, Nike was a thoughtful man and his is not afraid to face anything around him. By these facts, he had a clear mind and reliable in his observations, so it can make people believe Nike Carroways was a neutral and clear mind narrator of this novel, because this can be seen in Nike's personality. In the novel, Nike was also a neutral narrator too becasue he is the narrator who described everything clearly and accurately. He was trustful because he described everything without any personal point of view; By the way, throughout the whole story, he didn't defenses for any characters nor put any of his self-feeling in it. That's why he is a character who strived for neutrality. On the other hand, when Mr.Gatsby tells Tom that Daisy will leave Tom because she loves Tom no more, it's full of fire's atomsphere and emotion. " I've got something to tell you, old sport- " began Gatsby. But Daisy guessed at his intention. " Please don't!" she interrupted helplessly." Please let's all go home. Why don't we all go home?" " That's a good idea." I got up. " Come on, Tom. Nobody wants a drink." " I want to know what Mr.Gatsby has to tell me." " Your wife doesn't love you," said Gatsby. "She's never loved you. She loves me." At that time, if Nike was not in a neutral position, he must help Gatsby or Tom. But, he did not join in the argument between Gatsby and Tom. He just put himself in a corner, keeping quiet and see whatelse would happe ned in page 131 to page

Critical Essay on Frankenstein
Critical Essay on Frankenstein Critical essays are written after carefully reading and analyzing a given text. Critical essay writing is a common requirement in colleges. To succeed in this type of writing, a number of tips are essential. To begin with, the student has to conduct a sufficient research concerning the topic. This will provide a solid framework for analyzing key themes or concepts of which the instructor is expecting. A critical analysis demands a close reading of the text. A critical essay on Frankenstein, for example, cannot be written unless one adequately understands what Frankenstein is all about. A sample essay is as follows: Authored by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein is a Gothic novel with a storyline that is simply unforgettable. Revolving around Victor Frankenstein, the novel seeks to examine how knowledge can be used for purposes of doing well or for furthering evil in society. Additionally, the author is intent on depicting how technology has invaded modern life, thereby demonstrating how man often does not take responsibility for what he creates. In addition, the novel shows the power that nature has in restoring order after unnatural events. In so doing, Frankenstein adequately demonstrates a distinctive feature of Gothic novels, which is the focus on mysterious as well as supernatural happenings. For example, in Frankenstein, the thick, misty scene in which Victor collects body parts to use in his experiments indicates secrecy in what Frankenstein intends to do. In addition, the technologies that Victor uses to create life have been condemned as archaic and ineffective by one of his professors. Elsewhere in the novel, life is created in an unnatural manner. Another notable element in Frankenstein is its almost exclusive focus on the experiences of males. Throughout the novel, the female characters do not have a voice but are seen as fragile and end up being killed. This element has much to do with the authorââ¬â¢s biography. Mary Shelley was brought up in the absence of her natural mother, who passed away after Shelleyââ¬â¢s birth. For those characters who survive, the novel depicts them in such a way that personifies what is dominantly expected of a lady. Likewise, two male characters in Shelleyââ¬â¢s novel are depicted as being highly ambitious and averse to having sexual relationships with females. Although Frankenstein seeks to demonstrate that society cannot achieve meaningful developmental progress if it continues excluding female participation in its public agenda, it can be faulted for seeming to endorse the stereotyping of women as fragile or weak. This is supported from two perspectives, one being the fact that the novelââ¬â¢s authorship was initially disguised. Secondly, the notable concentration on male characters instead of female ones might suggest that the novel approves of male dominance. Despite this, one message is clear: Mary Shelley uses her novel to convey the oblique acknowledgment that enlightened women rarely survive in a male-dominated society. This is seen in the lack of independent and self-fulfilled women characters in the novel. What is conclusive from the novel is that self-fulfilling women in patriarchal structures are viewed via the male perception. What this means is that women characters in the novel are used only as tools to promote male characters as strong and independent. This is a very visible phenomenon in real life. Tips on critical essay writing: To prepare a decent critical essay on Frankenstein, you will need to become acquainted with at least several creative interpretations of this character: either in literature, or in cinema and theater. It will be easier for you to compose the essay based on the perception of the character and the widely known history of the storyââ¬â¢s evolution. To offer valuable insight, you will need to provide particular examples from the novel or the screen adaptations to support your ideas and to make the content of your paper more convincing and valuable.

Suspense 101 Definition and Tips for Building Heart-Stopping Narratives
Suspense 101 Definition and Tips for Building Heart-Stopping Narratives What Is Suspense in Literature? They say curiosity killed the cat - but satisfaction brought it back. Suspenseful stories depend on these very same traits in a reader. But just what is suspense in literature, and how can you weave that gripping tension into your own stories? This thorough guide will give you all the information you needâ⬠¦ and more. (See, weââ¬â¢re creating suspense already!)Check out the 50 best suspense books of all time over at Reedsy Discovery! What is literary suspense?Suspense is the tension a reader feels when they're not sure what will happen in a story - either during a single scene/chapter or throughout its overall arc. You might create suspense around anything that stokes readersââ¬â¢ curiosity, whether itââ¬â¢s a love triangle or a killer on the loose. You can use suspense in a story to:Heighten tension during a dramatic sceneConceal answers you donââ¬â¢t want to give awayBuild up to a twist and make it more powerfulKeep your reader turning the pages! While suspense is mos t frequently employed in mysteries and thrillers, it should be present in every work of fiction - curiosity is what compels readers to finish your book! However, the amount and type of suspense you use depends on exactly what you want your reader to experience. Learn all about literary suspense and how to create it in your novel! The 5 types of suspense (with examples)First of all, there are two types of suspense to know in terms of story structure: narrative suspense and short-term suspense. The first engages the reader with the central issue of the narrative, while the second keeps them intrigued minute to minute. A good novel has both.1. Narrative (long-term) suspenseWhile technically any literary suspense might be described as ââ¬Å"narrative,â⬠this refers to tension that builds throughout the entire story. In narrative suspense, you pose a question, problem, or mystery at the bookââ¬â¢s beginning, divulge more about it as the plot progresses, and wrap it up near the climax or ending.Well-written narrative suspense makes it nearly impossible for readers to put down your book. However, that means the payoff has to be huge - if youââ¬â¢re going to tease readers for 300 pages, you need an incredible ending! This is part of why suspenseful stories often culminate in a plot twist or big reveal (o r both, as in the arc of Amyââ¬â¢s disappearance in Goneà Girl). When constructing this kind of suspense, you want to continuously hint at its resolution. But you also donââ¬â¢t want to overwhelm your reader; the constant pressure of an impending reveal can make them feel overly anxious as well as impatient. With that in mind, temper this pressure with character development, non-suspenseful plot progression, or even a different suspense arc, as in the example below.Example of narrative/long-term suspenseIn To Kill A Mockingbird, there are two arcs of narrative suspense: 1) the question of what will happen to Tom Robinson, and 2) the suspense surrounding the mysterious Boo Radley. Both issues are introduced near the beginning, gain traction throughout the story, and eventually collide at the end, when Boo Radley saves the kids from Bob Ewell after the Robinson trial.Having more than one arc of narrative suspense keeps the reader invested and gives the story added layers of dep th. You can also accomplish these goals by using short-term suspense, which weââ¬â¢ll discuss in our next section. What's the best suspense you've ever read (or written)?
